In a recent crackdown on illicit substance trafficking, law enforcement agencies have arrested a total of eight suspects in Anambra and Lagos states.
The suspects, including a six-month pregnant woman, were apprehended for their involvement in dealing with illegal substances.
In Anambra state, six individuals were arrested in Oraifite and Umuni-Evili, Aguleri. The suspects identified as Amarachi Akaolisa (25 and six months pregnant), Ifeoma Iheanyi (21), Okwuchukwu Chukwuka, Onyedika Ngwu, Ekene Hyginus, and Nzomiwu Ikechukwu were apprehended in raids conducted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) operatives between Tuesday, February 6th, and Thursday, February 8th. The raids resulted in the recovery of over 6 kilograms of cannabis, tramadol, diazepam, and codeine syrup.
In Lagos, the anti-drug operations on Saturday, February 10th, led to the arrest of two individuals: Boluwatife Adebayo and Omolade Fola Adebayo. Ogah Sunday Adole and Boluwatife Adebayo were apprehended in Agidingbi, Ikeja, with 220 grams of cannabis, 10.6 litres of codeine syrup, and other psychotropic substances. Omolade Fola Adebayo was arrested at Ijesha with various quantities of cannabis, codeine syrup, rohypnol, and molly.
These arrests underscore the continuous efforts of law enforcement agencies to curb drug-related activities and ensure public safety. As investigations unfold, the suspects will face legal consequences for their involvement in the illegal drug trade.
