The Presidential Election Petition Court proceedings on Tuesday commenced the actual hearing of petitions by opposition political parties and candidates challenging the outcome of the February 25, 2023 presidential election.

The hearing started with the announced winner of the election, President Bola Tinubu, through his counsel, Wole Olanipekun, who referenced the Supreme Court's decision of Friday, 26th May that dismissed PDP's case on double nomination.

Olanipekun is reportedly seeking to know if the decision of the Supreme Court doesn't strike out the case of the Allied People's Movement (APM) which is also challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)/Tinubu’s victory on grounds of using a placeholder, Kabir Masari, for Kashim Shettima.

But the APM's lawyer, S.A.T. Abubakar, in his response said the party was yet to get a copy of the judgment from the apex Court, and that the party would act appropriately as soon as it got a copy of the judgment to know the implication of the Supreme Court's decision.

Olanipekun therefore informed the Court that he would ensure that the Certified True Copy of the Supreme Court judgment was made available to the APM within two days.

However, the APM's lawyer applied to the Court for adjournment of hearing of the petition till Friday June 2, 2023 to enable him apply to the Supreme Court for Certified True Copy of the judgment on Shettima's double nomination.
