The Emir and the Governor has been at loggerhead since few years ago and all efforts to reconcile the two has not been productive.

The dethronement process can be traced to the creation of new emirate in Kano state instead of the sole head by the Emir of Kano.

The dethronement was today approved by the house of assembly of the though it led to a lot of controversy among the honorable members of the house. However, the Emir has now been dethroned following a similar case with his fore fathers.

Emir Sanusi is one of the critics of the Kano state government and it has been an objective critics of the Northern Nigeria leaders due to the level of poverty in that region.
