John Otobo, the manager of the Union Bank branch in Igueben, Edo State, has been brutally murdered by kidnappers, even after his family allegedly paid a ransom of N8 million.

Details surrounding the incident remain scarce, with the circumstances leading to Otobo's death still unclear. However, reports indicate that his lifeless body was discovered in the bush shortly after the ransom was handed over to the kidnappers.

The ordeal began when Otobo was abducted several days ago while commuting between Ugbegun and Uromi on his journey home from work. The news of his untimely demise sent shockwaves through the community, leaving residents in mourning.

Odion Humphrey, a member of the community, took to Facebook to express his grief and pay tribute to the deceased. In a poignant post shared on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, Humphrey bid farewell to Otobo, describing him as a cherished member of the community.

"The entire Udo community says goodbye to you, Mr. John Otobo, the Branch Manager of Union Bank Igueben. You will forever remain in our hearts," wrote Humphrey. "As for your killer, may they never know peace all the days of their lives. May Almighty God grant you eternal rest, and may your soul and the souls of every other faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace, Amen."

The tragic demise of John Otobo serves as a grim reminder of the pervasive threat of kidnapping and violence that continues to plague communities across Nigeria. As authorities investigate this heinous crime, residents are left grappling with grief and demanding justice for Otobo and his family.
