The outspoken Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has been crowned the Governor of the Year at the 2020 Sun Newspaper Awards.

In absentia of the governor, the award was received by Deputy Governor Dr. Mrs Ipalibo Harry Banigo on behalf of the Governor.

The ceremony was held on Saturday 16th October at Eko Hotel, Lagos and had top Government functionaries, Captains of Industry and dignitaries from across the country in attendance.

It will be recalled that the Rivers state governor has been waging his influence by fighting both the Federal governments, some ministers, some governors and even the removal of his party chairman during the course of the year.
