NEWS: BUHARI SIGNS NOT TOO YOUNG TO RUN BILL [New Politics] » Naijacrawl

President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Mohammed Buhari today signed the not too young to run bill as promised in his Democracy day speech on Tuesday.



The president was with the Senate on Thursday afternoon at 2.30pm today May 31, 2018 in Abuja, to put pen on paper and sign the historic bill. The bill was sponsored by Honourable Tony Nwulu of the state house of Assembly.

The bill simply means that;

1. Eligible age for aspirants for members of the State Houses of Assembly will be reduced from 30 to 25 years;

2. Eligible age for aspirants for members of the Federal House of Representatives will be reduced from 30 to 25 years; and

3. Eligible age for aspirants for Office of the President, will be lowered from 40 to 35 years. Although, the age limits for Senators and Governors was not reduced, as originally proposed by the sponsors of this Bill. This is an issue that may need to be addressed going forward.
