On Saturday, 34-year-old footballer Sodiq Adebisi tragically lost his life after collapsing during a training session at the Dipo Dina International Stadium in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
According to reliable sources, Sodiq was actively engaged in training alongside his teammates when the unexpected incident occurred. Witnesses reported that he suddenly collapsed on the training ground, prompting his teammates to swiftly rush him to a state hospital in Ijebu-Ode.Despite their efforts, the young footballer was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The news of his sudden demise sent shockwaves through the football community and beyond.
Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, shared that the deceased's brother, Ganiyu Adebisi, approached the Igbeba Police Division seeking the release of the body for burial.
Odutola stated, "The brother came to report the incident at our Igbeba division. The family said they didn’t want any investigation and that they wanted to bury the deceased according to Islamic rite."
