The Times reports that Antonio Conte made the decision to remain at Tottenham Hotspur following a two-day meeting with Spurs sporting director Fabio Paratici at the conclusion of the previous season where he was assured of getting the signings he desired.
In order to assemble a strong squad for the upcoming season, the Italian tactician had reportedly threatened to leave the club if his demands were not met during the transfer window. It appears that the club has now complied with his demands.
Up until this point, Tottenham has had a very successful transfer window, at least in terms of new players. Conte has used his clout in the transfer market to bring in players he believes will strengthen the team.
The Lilywhites acquired Yves Bissouma from Brighton and free agent Ivan Perisic from Inter. Richarlison, a Brazilian striker, was the star acquisition that Spurs were able to make from Everton, and Conte has high hopes for him.
Clement Lenglet's loan transfer from Barcelona was another wise business decision, at least on paper. The French center back could play well for Conte and thrive in a three-man defense.
Djed Spence, who could be a very promising future addition for Spurs, was also signed, and Fraser Forster was brought in to serve as Hugo Lloris' backup. Tottenham had a successful transfer window, that much is obvious.
However, they have found it difficult to part ways with the players who Antonio Conte does not rely on. While Harry Winks, Sergio Reguilon, Giovani Lo Celso, and Tanguy Ndombele are still at the team, Steven Bergwijn has left.
There is still time before the transfer window closes, and there is a strong possibility that Conte has additional players he wants to sign. The Italian coach is making every effort to assemble a strong team for the upcoming campaign.
Anyone who has followed Conte's managerial career is aware that, at least during the first few seasons, the Italian has a reputation for getting the best performance out of his players. The Spurs will have a thrilling season if he can accomplish that with them.
The Spurs have gone trophyless for too long. A serial winner like Conte knows what it takes to win trophies, and if he can get the Lilywhites the trophies that they are craving, this transfer window will be a huge success for him.
