Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly mulling a triple transfer attack on Everton this summer, with previous target Ben Godfrey among the names on their wish list.
Antonio Conte is preparing to restructure his squad, with a lot of incomings and outgoings likely in north London, and three Merseyside players appear to be on their way to Tottenham.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Conte is reportedly interested in signing Richarlison, Anthony Gordon, and Godfrey.
Brazilian forward Richarlison has had a largely disappointing campaign. However, he has come to life when Everton most needed him, scoring a late equaliser to earn a point against Leicester and also notching the winner in a huge home victory over Chelsea.
In all, he has scored nine goals and added four assists in 30 games in all competitions this term.
Those stats are hardly world-beating, but there is a strong feeling that Richarlison’s time at Goodison is up and that an exit is more likely than not.
Potential relegation will obviously play a part in that. Indeed, all three players mentioned would almost certainly move on if the worst happened.
An Everton firesale could be on.
Everton currently have a two-point gap to Leeds in the final relegation spot. However, they do have a game in hand over Jesse Marsch’s side.
As for the other two Tottenham targets, Gordon is perhaps the most intriguing after an excellent breakthrough season.
The 21-year-old has often carried the team during their struggles and has been outstanding in a woeful campaign.
Gordon has scored four times and notched three assists. However, his commitment to the cause has been incredible throughout the season.
Godfrey, meanwhile, was on Tottenham’s radar before he joined the Toffees for £25 million from Norwich in 2020.
The central defender, who can also play as an emergency full-back, was impressive in his first season on Merseyside. However, like the majority of Everton’s defence, he has found this campaign a real struggle at times.
Indeed, Godfrey was pushing for a place in England’s World Cup squad for Qatar but is now well down that list.
Gordon was a prime Levy signing.
While Richarlison and Godfrey are both good players, they can be inconsistent in their performances. The same cannot be said for Gordon, who gives his all every game and has the quality to match.
The winger is also right up Daniel Levy’s street. A young player with enormous potential who has enormous re-sale value
The problem is that Everton will no doubt demand huge sums of money for their homegrown star, who the fans adore.
Gordon is also at his best playing down the left, although he can play on the right. Those positions at Spurs are currently filled by Son Heung-Min and Dejan Kuksevski, so there is little chance of him playing out wide for Conte’s men.
