Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed Erling Haaland has ligament damage.
This makes the 22-year-old a doubt for City’s remaining fixtures before the 2022 World Cup.
Haaland picked up a foot injury in the 0-0 draw against Borussia Dortmund in October and was forced to miss the games against Sevilla and Leicester.
However, he scored the winner on his comeback against Fulham at the Etihad on Saturday.
Although Haaland played in City’s most recent fixture, Guardiola says he is still nursing his foot complaint and faces a fitness test ahead of fixtures against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday and Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday.
“He’s not perfect – it [the injury] is still not perfect,” Guardiola told reporters on Tuesday.
“We’ll see [if he’s available] tomorrow, next Saturday – but he’s getting better." It’s important that the bone is not broken – there’s no damage. It’s just some ligament damage, so it’s not perfect right now. But in one week, 10 days everything can happen. "It can change.”
Haaland has already scored 18 goals in just 12 Premier League games for the champions.
