Chelsea legend Jason Cundy has urged the club’s manager, Mauricio Pochettino, to make defender Reece James the club’s new permanent captain following Cesar Azpilicueta’s departure.

Recall that Azpilicueta recently left Chelsea to join Atletico Madrid.
The Spaniard, who has been Chelsea’s captain for some seasons, left Stamford Bridge after 11 amazing years at the Premier League giants.
Speaking on who Pochettino should appoint as Chelsea’s next captain after Azpilicueta’s exit, Cundy told talkSPORT that James is the obvious choice.
Cundy said, “If you are going to give the permanent captaincy to anyone, Reece [James] feels like the obvious choice.
“Reece’s fitness levels are the concern. Reece has had injury problems.”
