Cristiano Ronaldo reacted to the banner dedicated to him held up by Atletico fans during their recent friendly against Numancia.

He commented with laughing emojis on Instagram in response.

Four laughing emojis. That was Cristiano Ronaldo’s reaction on social media to the banner held up by Atletico Madrid fans during a recent friendly, which read: “CR7 not welcome”.

The sheet was displayed behind one of the goals during Atletico’s pre-season friendly match against Numancia. Cholo Simeone’s side thrashed their opponents, but it was the banner, like almost everything involving Cristiano Ronaldo, that eclipsed the action on the pitch.

On Instagram, an account posted a picture of said banner, informing the Portuguese of it, and he took no time at all in responding. Amongst numerous comments, the Manchester United player left four laughing emojis, reflecting his view on the message from the Atletico fans.

Before images of the banner made their way onto social media, the Fans’ Union of Atletico Madrid released a statement as the rumours of a Ronaldo move to the Metropolitano began. Their opinion on Ronaldo's transfer to their club was loud and clear: “It is the antithesis of our values."
