Cristiano Ronaldo, a forward for Manchester United, responded after scoring the team's first goal of the year in a 2-0 victory over Sheriff Tiraspol.

Additionally, Ronaldo scored his first goal ever in the Europa League, a league he has never participated in.

On a calm night for Erik ten Hag's team in Moldova, the Portugal international spearheaded the attack for Manchester United as they won 2-0 and earned their first points of the European campaign.

Jadon Sancho put Manchester United in the lead with a fine finish, before Ronaldo made it two from the penalty spot.

The goal was the 37-year-old’s first goal of the season in all competitions and the first in the Europa League.

The football icon was delighted to hit the back of the net and secure the victory.

Ronaldo posted to his 478 million followers on Instagram: “Happy to score and help the team win! 3 important points! Well done lads. "
