Memphis Depay, a forward for Barcelona, is reportedly interested in returning to Manchester United during the active transfer window.
As Manchester United searches for a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, whose contract was terminated by mutual consent, Depay has emerged as one of several possibilities.
The Red Devils are reportedly interested in signing the international from the Netherlands, but Sport reports that they are only willing to sign him on a temporary loan while Barcelona attempts to recoup some of their investment.
Meanwhile, in a related development, Rotherham United loanee Brooke Norton-Cuffy from Arsenal has been called back.
Norton-Cuffy immediately signed a loan deal with Coventry City to play out the season.
This was revealed by Arsenal on Friday in a statement posted on its website.
Norton-Cuffy has played 20 times already in the Championship this season, registering two assists.
The 18-year-old spent last season on loan at Lincoln City before returning to Arsenal in the summer to sign a new contract with the Gunners.
“We wish Brooke all the best for his loan spell at Coventry City and look forward to seeing his continued development,” Arsenal’s statement read in part.
“The deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.”
