Diego Costa has been officially signed by Wolves for a one-year contract.

Since leaving Atletico Mineiro in Brazil in January, the 33-year-old has been without a team.

Bruno Lage required reinforcements up front after Sasa Kalajdzic, a summer acquisition for Wolves, injured his ACL during his first game.

Costa played for Chelsea from 2014 to 2017, scoring 52 goals in 89 appearances and helping the Blues win two league titles.

The Spain striker initially saw his work permit application rejected, but Wolves’ appeal was upheld on Wednesday.

Wolves had to press on with plans for a striker in case Costa’s work permit appeal was denied and the club seriously considered a move for Andy Carroll as their Plan B.
