According to Arsenal veteran Paul Merson, Liverpool's Mohamed Salah will win the Premier League Player of the Season, ahead of Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne.

On Friday, Salah and De Bruyne were among the eight nominees for the Player of the Season accolade.

But, while Merson believes Salah is deserving of the trophy, he also believes De Bruyne has a chance to catch Salah late in the game.

"Kevin De Bruyne is a late contender for footballer of the year." But, in my opinion, Mohamed Salah is a deserving winner. I sometimes think we should wait until the end of the season to vote for these things because De Bruyne may still win the league. His ankle has improved.

He added, “And he is on a different planet to everyone else when he’s playing like that. When he bursts through, he can still play the absolutely perfect weight of pass. He has just been outstanding the last few weeks.”
