Dutch football journalist Marcel van der Kraan has warned the new Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, against being too Dutch.
A mammoth task awaits Ten Hag, who takes over at Old Trafford’s landlords who have not won the league in nine seasons.
And van der Kraan warned the 52-year-old Dutchman against falling into the same trap of being "too Dutch", like former Man United boss Louis van Gaal, who was sacked by the Old Trafford outfit.
According to Kraan, the former Ajax manager will have to adapt to the systems of English football, adding that it is always difficult for Dutch managers to go to England.
Adding,“You don’t know what the Premier League is about until you get there."
“That has been the problem for Louis van Gaal as well." He’s a good coach, but he wasn’t the right man for Manchester United. He wanted to be too Dutch, but you can’t be too Dutch. ”
