Two mansions belonging to former Chelsea and Ghana midfielder Michael Essien are reportedly set to be auctioned following an order from the Accra High Court.
This decision was issued by the Deputy Sheriff of the High Court (Commercial Division) on June 12, 2024, after a recent ruling against Essien.
The properties, located at Stephen Quarshie Crescent, East Legon (House Number 9), and at Trassaco (Phase 2), Adjiringano (House Number 204/205) in Accra, are slated for auction, according to a report by the Daily Guide. One of these luxurious homes is estimated to be valued between $20 million and $30 million.
Essien's current financial difficulties stem from substantial loans he took from various banks and financial institutions in Ghana, as reported by Africa Soccer. Despite his illustrious career, which saw him playing for top clubs like Chelsea, Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Lyon, the 41-year-old former football star is now facing significant financial challenges.
