Former Arsenal and Ivory Coast defender Emmanuel Eboue has opened up about his life following a highly publicized divorce, disputing claims that he has slipped into poverty.

In 2017, Eboue was involved in a legal battle with his ex-wife, Aurelie, which resulted in him losing several assets, including his houses, cars, and money in England. However, Eboue now insists that these reports have been exaggerated.

In an interview with Citi Sports, Eboue clarified the situation, expressing frustration over the persistent "poverty" narrative surrounding him. "When people say Emmanuel Eboue lost everything, it’s not nice," the 40-year-old said. He explained that although the court ruled in favor of his ex-wife, awarding her his properties, he had hoped she would use them to care for their children.

Reflecting on that difficult period, which coincided with a one-year ban from football for reportedly failing to pay a former agent, Eboue admitted he felt low. But he soon found solace through prayer and returned to Africa, where he owns properties in Ghana and his home country.

Eboue emphasized that he now lives comfortably, dismissing claims that he is struggling. "I laugh when I hear people say I have nothing, can’t eat, or have no place to stay," he said. "I have my properties, and I thank God for the life I have."
