Joachim Andersen, a defender for Crystal Palace, claimed that he and his family have been the target of death threats after Darwin Nunez, a striker for Liverpool, headbutted him during Monday's Premier League draw, which led to the striker receiving a red card at Anfield.

After their new acquisition, Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw. Just before the hour mark, Andersen collided with Nunez and appeared to headbutt the Danish defender before receiving a straight red card.

As a result, Liverpool has lost both of its games and is now in 12th place. Fans expressed their annoyance by contacting Andersen on Instagram, where he was tagged. I received about 3,000–4,000 of these messages last night. "I understand you support a team, but have some respect and stop (acting) tough online,” Andersen said before sharing screenshots of abuse and death threats in his inbox.

“Hope Instagram and the Premier League do something about this.”

Reuters has contacted Instagram for comment.

Nunez’s red card will result in a three-match ban and Liverpool boss Juergen Klopp — who is left facing a striker crisis with Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota injured — said he hoped the Uruguayan would learn from his mistake. the abusive messages he had received (reported by Rohith Nair in Bengaluru; edited by Christian Radnedge).
