Valencia manager Carlos Corberán has heaped praise on Umar Sadiq following his match-winning display in Los Che’s crucial 2-1 victory over Real Valladolid at the Estadio de Mestalla on Saturday night.
Sadiq, who has been in sensational form, netted the decisive goal in the 54th minute, helping Valencia secure a vital win in their battle to avoid relegation. The towering Nigerian striker has now scored four goals in his last four La Liga matches, proving to be a key asset for the team.
The 28-year-old also impressed in last week's thrilling 3-3 draw against Osasuna, where he bagged a brace. Since joining Valencia on loan from Real Sociedad in January, Sadiq has been a standout performer, notching five goals in just seven league appearances.
Corberán acknowledged Sadiq’s impact and highlighted his importance to the squad.
“I have three great forwards, and Sadiq is proving it. Hugo has shown his quality, but he is unavailable at the moment. The same goes for Rafa Mir. I have full confidence in all three of them,” Corberán told the club’s official website.
He further praised Sadiq’s resilience and determination, drawing a parallel between the striker’s performance and the team’s fighting spirit.
“Sadiq exemplifies what this match was about—making mistakes but having the mentality to recover. It was a game of persistence, of not losing faith, and pushing forward until we reached our objective.”
Sadiq’s remarkable form is giving Valencia the attacking firepower they need as they continue their fight for survival in La Liga. Fans will be hoping he maintains this momentum in the coming fixtures.
