Nigerian Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey has shared his admiration for Manchester United's center-back, Harry Maguire.
Calvin Bassey, a product of the Leicester City academy, disclosed that he always regarded Maguire as a role model and a benchmark for his career development.
Maguire showcased exceptional skills at Leicester, earning a significant transfer to Manchester United in 2018 and setting a world record for the highest transfer fee paid for a defender.
Following Fulham's 1-0 defeat to Manchester United last weekend, Bassey, now a Fulham defender, expressed his deep appreciation for Maguire.
After the game, the two players stayed back to catch up, and Bassey spoke about their connection, stating via Mirror, "During my time coming through the ranks, he was one of the players I looked up to, and I still do. Now that I'm playing on the opposite side, he plays on the opposite side, offering me advice like any top player would."
Maguire serves as an inspiration to Bassey, and the latter praised Maguire's incredible contributions at Leicester and continued excellence. Bassey emphasized Maguire's remarkable achievements with Leicester, describing them as amazing.
Although Bassey did not make a senior appearance for Leicester, he went on to make a significant impact at Rangers and Ajax before joining Fulham in the summer.
