Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has been given a condition to remain at Old Trafford.
The goalkeeper will have to accept a pay cut to land a new deal at the club, as the Spaniard is confident of ending his career at the Theater of Dreams.
De Gea is now in the final six months of his current deal with the Red Devils, and the club has opted against activating their option to extend that deal by a further 12 months.
By extending the Spain international, he would have remained on his ÂŁ375,000-per-week wages until June 2024.
But now the club will enter a new negotiation with the goalkeeper, who now signs fresh terms after accepting United’s request to slash his salary, the Daily Telegraph reports.
De Gea was brought to Old Trafford by former boss and club legend Sir Alex Ferguson from Atletico Madrid in 2011.
