The summer transfer window for Manchester United seems to be getting worse and worse.
Frenkie De Jong, a Barcelona midfielder who is Erik ten Hag's top target, is expected to leave the Red Devils, but even finding replacements is proving challenging.
According to a recent article from la Gazzetta dello Sport (via Juventus News 24), Adrien Rabiot, a midfielder for Juventus who had been identified as a target, is "reluctant" to sign with the Red Devils.
It has been noted that the 27-year-old France international, who has one year left on his contract with Turin, wants to participate in the Champions League this year, and ten Hag is unable to provide him with that opportunity.
The fact that United was compelled to compete in Europe's second tier this season as a result of their failure to earn a spot in the prestigious Champions League appears to be having a significant impact.
With less than three weeks left in the transfer window, ten Hag would be pulling his hair out if he had any if neither Rabiot nor De Jong were signed. This would leave the Dutchman desperately short of midfield reinforcements.
