The Interim Management Committee (IMC) sanctioned Bayelsa United over the alleged assault on an assistant referee, and the club has appealed the decision.

The incident happened at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa during a match between Bayelsa United and Doma United on matchday five.

Following a post-game attack on Ojeleye Ebenezer, the second assistant referee, by one of Bayelsa United's fans, the IMC ruled that the team would lose three points and three goals.

The attacker, Mr. Joseph Zidougha, was allegedly never a part of the club's supporters club, according to the club management.

The club is willing to make up for the physical abuse the stadium official received.

The Samson Siasia Stadium's indefinite closure to spectators was another request made by Bayelsa United.
