Former AS Monaco striker Victor Ikpeba has told the leadership of Chelsea under Todd Boehly that manager Graham Potter’s sacking won’t solve the club’s problem this season.

Ikpeba believes Chelsea’s hierarchy should have continued with Potter until the end of the season.

Potter was sacked as Chelsea manager on Sunday night after the team’s 2-0 home defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday.

Speaking on the development, on Monday Night Football broadcast on SuperSport, Ikpeba also wondered why Potter did not feature striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang regularly in his team.

“It’s unfortunate [that Graham Potter was sacked]. In football, it is about results. When you look at the timeline and the statistics from when he [Potter] took over, you cannot argue that the players are not doing enough,” Ikpeba said.
“The truth of the matter is that I don’t know why he doesn’t have faith in Aubameyang." You can’t win games without strikers. There are no strikers in this Chelsea side.
“You have a lot of attacking players in the team." Joao Felix, who came from Atletico Madrid, you can’t question his creativity, but he’s not a player that can score two digits goals for you. They just bought these players from everywhere.
“I think the Chelsea owners and recruitment department must take responsibility for what is happening at Chelsea."
“Sacking a manager nine or ten games before the end of the season won’t solve this problem. They should have kept faith in Potter until the end of the season and said, You have done your best, bye bye,” he added.

If English manager Graham Potter fails to lead the Blues to victory over Borussia Dortmund in their UEFA Champions League second-leg matchup next month, Chelsea legend Frank Leboeuf wants his former club, now under the leadership of Todd Boehly, to fire Potter and hire a new manager. It's not the right time to fire the former Brighton coach, according to Leboeuf, who recently urged Boehly to do so and bring in former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane in Potter's pl...
