Former Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin has reminded the Spanish side’s challengers in this season’s final, Liverpool, that Los Blancos never lost a final game in the competition before.
Since the competition was changed from the European Cup to the Champions League in 1992, the Spanish giants have in fact won every final they’ve been in.
They have taken home seven of their 13 titles in that time.
Sahin, who also played for Liverpool, however, said that both teams have an equal chance in the Champions League final.
Sahin, who is now a manager in Turkey, believes both teams’ coaches have the winning pedigree that is crucial in finals.
“Both clubs and teams have all the reason to be confident because they are playing very well,” Sahin told talkSPORT.
“They have two outstanding managers, two historical clubs, with final history also.
It’s important because if you played some finals, you already smell the air there and you know how it feels when you’re there.
“This will help both of them." I just read a few days ago that Real Madrid never lost the Champions League final.
