Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand believes manager Erik ten Hag will allow captain Harry Maguire to leave the club next summer.
Maguire has so far experienced a difficult start to the new season.
The England defender has been dropped by Ten Hag to the substitutes' bench, with the Dutchman preferring the partnership of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez in the centre-back position.
“If there are takers, I think Erik ten Hag should let him go,” Ferdinand said on his Vibe with FIVE podcast.
I think he will want to go. If he is not playing, I don’t think he wants to sit there. There are other people who have chosen to sit there when they aren’t playing, and that’s fine, but I don’t think Harry Maguire is one of those guys.
“He loves football and wants to play, and he will have an open and honest conversation with the manager.”
