Randy Waldrum, head coach of Nigeria’s Super Falcons, has stepped down from his position, citing his wife’s health challenges as the primary reason for his decision.
The news was confirmed by *DAILY POST*, with Waldrum explaining that the decision followed weeks of personal struggles after the 2024 Olympic Games.
In his resignation letter, Waldrum expressed how difficult the past few weeks had been: “It’s been a very difficult few weeks following the Olympics, with my wife’s health issues, and the worries that obviously come with that.” He added that his resignation would give the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) enough time to find a new manager for the team.
The 67-year-old coach took charge of the Super Falcons in 2020, following a previous decision to decline the role three years earlier. Despite managing the Super Falcons, Waldrum simultaneously coached the Pittsburgh Panthers in the U.S.
Waldrum’s last match with the Super Falcons was during the 2024 Olympic Games group stage, where the team faced Japan.
