Chelsea defender, Thiago Silva will ask the west London side to terminate his contract so that he could return to Brazil.
The Brazilian looks set to leave Chelsea a year early as he is keen on returning to boyhood club Fluminense this summer.
The legendary former Paris St-Germain star moved to west London on a free transfer from the French side in 2020.
He only recently signed a new one-year extension with the Blues that keeps him at the club until 2024.
Having failed to qualify for the Champions League next season, Silva may regret his decision to sign a new deal.
Globo Esporte reports that the veteran defender, who criticised Chelsea’s new ownership recently, is now planning to leave earlier than expected.
His desire to leave is motivated more by Fluminense’s improving form and growing calls for him to return.
The side are currently three points off top spot in Brazil’s Serie A and recently brought Real Madrid legend Marcelo back to the club.
