Okechukwu Azubuike of Nigeria, a midfielder, will be out for an extended period of time due to injury.
The anterior cruciate ligament of the former U-23 Eagles captain has been injured, according to Caykur Rizespor, the club he plays for in Turkey.
After a successful surgery on Wednesday, the 26-year-old is now anticipated to miss six to nine months of action.
“We convey our best wishes to our football player and hope that he will return to the field stronger than before,” reads a statement on the club’s official website.
Azubuike transferred from Istanbul Basaksehir, another Turkish team, to Rizespor in January.
With Istanbul Basaksehir, the tenacious midfielder won the Turkish League championship in 2020.
Additionally, he has represented the Turkish teams Sivasspor and Yeni Malatyaspor.
