Monday night's North-West derby between Liverpool and Manchester United will be intense, but both teams are aware that a loss could spark panic among their respective fan bases.
As they pursue the Premier League championship, Juergen Klopp's team has not gotten off to the start they desired, drawing with Fulham and Crystal Palace. Even though it is still early in the season, they currently lead title favorites Manchester City by four points.
United, however, is in a worse circumstance. Having suffered two straight losses to start the league campaign under new manager Erik ten Hag, the team's supporters are worried that they will have another difficult year.
Speaking ahead of the fixture to The Mirror, van Dijk acknowledged that he thought confidence would be low for their rivals.
“It’s massive, but it’s not about making a statement; we want to win and do everything that’s possible to win there,”
