Popular Nigerian music sensation, Davido, whose real name is David Adedeji Adeleke, has reached an agreement to settle a breach of contract lawsuit brought against him by Brownhill Investment Company Limited, led by former President of the Nigerian Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick.
The lawsuit was filed at the High Court of Delta State, Effurun.
As part of the settlement, Davido has opted to resolve the dispute outside of court. According to the terms of the consent judgment in the N2 billion lawsuit, Davido has agreed to pay N30 million to the claimant within seven days to contribute to outstanding legal fees.
The claimant, represented by lawyer Kelechi Onwuegbuchulem, initially sought N2 billion in general damages from Davido. Additionally, they requested N150 million for legal and professional fees, along with N30 million for filing costs.
Davido, along with his music label Davido Music Worldwide Limited, were named as defendants in the lawsuit.
Following extensive discussions and negotiations, both parties have agreed to perform at the "Warri Again Concert" edition on October 4, 2024.
The consent judgment also stipulates that the $94,500 already paid by the claimant to the defendants will be considered for the performance at the event.
