Nigerian artist Rema has recently addressed rumors suggesting that he worships the devil, speculating that these claims may have been triggered by his visually distinctive music videos and performance style.

Speaking on the *Kids Take Over* podcast, Rema dismissed the allegations as the “craziest” he’s encountered. He explained that the imagery and colors used in his work are purely artistic choices, emphasizing that his recent “rabbid phase” featuring red visuals has been misunderstood.

“The craziest thing I’ve seen online about me is that I worship the devil,” Rema stated. “It’s not worth responding to those claims because it feels like a waste of time. My team and I just choose certain colors to dominate an image. During the ‘rabbid phase,’ we used a lot of red, and people reacted negatively to it. But red is just a color—it’s not something sinister.”

Rema went on to challenge the idea that cultural ignorance fuels such misconceptions. He explained how his Edo heritage has influenced his artistic vision, lamenting that some people label it as “devilish” simply because they don’t understand it. “My culture, the Edo culture, is not one the world is very familiar with, and it doesn’t have many ambassadors. Because people don’t know it, they sometimes make unfair judgments,” Rema noted.

Despite the rumors, the *Ozeba* singer expressed no desire to continue addressing these claims, considering it a waste of energy. “People can do a simple Google search if they’re really curious,” he added.
