Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornel, two Nollywood actors who were recently kidnapped in Enugu State, have been freed.
Their release was confirmed by the Actors Guild of Nigeria in a statement issued by Monalisa Chinda Coker, the organization's director of communication.
The actors were freed, according to Monalisa, because they had been "touched by the spirit of God."
The Guild advised actors to check that there was enough security in place while on set.
This is to inform the public that the kidnapped actors, Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornel, have been released unharmed, according to the statement. Their release by the kidnappers, who were moved by the spirit of God to set them free and unharmed, was announced by the joyous National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ejezie Rollas.
"The guild has arranged for the victims' medical examinations and psychological support.
He urged the group's participants to always exercise caution regarding their safety, both on and off the set of a movie.
Okereke and Agbodigidi were abducted last week in Enugu State.
The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of $100,000.
