Former Big Brother Naija star Kiddwaya has sparked a conversation about TikTok's future, urging Nigerian billionaires to unite and make a bid for the globally popular app.

His bold suggestion comes as TikTok faces an uncertain future in the United States due to potential government action.

Taking to his social media handle, Kiddwaya wrote:

"What about all the billionaires in Nigeria? Can we come together and buy TikTok, or is it only for white people?”

The call follows a series of events that have placed TikTok under intense scrutiny in the U.S. In April 2024, President Joe Biden signed a law demanding TikTok's Chinese parent company, ByteDance, to either sell the app or shut it down by January 19, 2025.

While ByteDance has since appealed the decision to the U.S. Supreme Court, TikTok's CEO, Shou Zi Chew, recently met with President-elect Donald Trump. During a press conference, Trump revealed he had a "soft spot" for TikTok and hinted that his administration might reconsider its stance on the platform's future.

As ByteDance awaits the Supreme Court's ruling, Kiddwaya’s statement has ignited discussions about the role of African billionaires in global tech investments. Could this be an opportunity for Nigerian elites to make a mark on the international stage?

Stay tuned for updates on TikTok’s fate and the potential involvement of African investors in the tech space.
