The Grammy-winning musician Burna Boy's controversial claim that the afrobeats genre lacks lyrical "substance" has received support from the Nigerian musical group Ajebo Hustlers.

According to Naijacrawl, Burna Boy claimed that 90% of Nigerian musicians produce music with no substance in a recent interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe.

Ajebo Hustlers responded via their Twitter account, claiming that Burna Boy was spot on.

Ajebo Hustlers tweeted: “Be mad at Burna all you want! Still, don’t change the fact that half of your favorites make music with no substance. To be honest, that’s absolutely fair because this is entertainment at the end of the day. But he’s saying the bitter truth.”
