Nigerian travel creator Alma Asinobi has announced an ambitious plan to visit all seven continents in a bid to set a world record.
Her journey is set to begin on March 15, 2025, starting in Australia and concluding in Nigeria.
Raising Awareness on Passport Privilege
Alma Asinobi is taking on this challenge with her Nigerian passport to highlight the struggles faced by travelers from countries with low-mobility passports. Speaking in a viral Instagram video, she shared the motivation behind her journey:
“I’m doing this with a Nigerian passport to shed more light on the issue of passport privilege. When I fully recover from having to apply for over 10 visas—and facing five rejections—I’ll speak in-depth about why we cannot stay silent on the second-class treatment citizens of low-ranking passports face when it comes to travel and visa restrictions.
I’m pushing the limits of one of the world’s lowest-ranking passports on this adventure to prove what’s possible and inspire you to explore the world, despite the challenges. This issue impacts over half of the world’s population, with Africans—both at home and in the diaspora—among the most affected.”
Breaking Records: Can She Set a New Benchmark?
The current Guinness World Record for the fastest time to visit all seven continents is held by Ali Irani and Sujoy Kumar Mitra from India. They completed the journey in just three days, one hour, five minutes, and four seconds. Alma Asinobi's challenge aims not just to break records but also to spark an important global conversation.
