Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has hailed Nigerian music star Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, for her historic victory at the 67th Grammy Awards.
Tems made history on Sunday night by winning the Best African Music Performance award for her song Love Me JeJe, making her the first Nigerian artist to clinch this prestigious category.
In a congratulatory message shared on his X (Twitter) handle Monday afternoon, Sanwo-Olu praised Tems’ exceptional talent and dedication.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Temilade Openiyi (@temsbaby) for winning the Best African Music Performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards with her song Love Me JeJe,” he wrote.
The governor also commended other Nigerian nominees, including Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, Asake, Wizkid, and Davido, for their remarkable contributions to the global music scene.
“This historic achievement showcases Nigeria’s rich musical talent, and we are immensely proud of all our artists elevating the country’s presence on the world stage,” he added.
