Controversial social media critic, VeryDarkMan, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of allegedly planning to arrest him under false pretenses.
In a video posted on his Instagram page, VeryDarkMan claimed that the anti-graft agency is working behind the scenes to set him up, particularly for his outspoken criticism of EFCC Chairman, Olanipekun Olukoyede.
According to him, a high-profile lawyer and a popular social media influencer recently visited the EFCC Abuja office with the intent of providing evidence against him. He alleged that they submitted video clips and a picture of him spraying money, urging the agency to use it as an opportunity to come after him.
"EFCC Abuja, I heard you had two visitors today—one is an influencer, the other a very influential lawyer. I know you’re wondering how I found out, but the truth is, I have informants in your office. They came because of me, bringing clips and a picture of me spraying money, telling EFCC, ‘This is your chance to go for VeryDarkMan.’"
He further alleged that an EFCC official confirmed their interest in taking action against him, especially due to his persistent criticism of the agency and its leadership.
"The officer they spoke to even agreed, saying ‘Yes, VeryDarkMan has been attacking us, speaking against our boss, and being rude to EFCC.’ So now, you’re teaming up to frame me."
