Nigerian music sensation Yemi Alade took to X (formerly Twitter) to air grievances against popular radio station Cool FM, accusing them of blacklisting her songs.

The multi-award-winning artist, recently nominated for a Grammy in the Best African Song Performance category, expressed her frustration over alleged gatekeeping in the Nigerian music industry.

In a series of posts, Yemi Alade claimed Cool FM removed her entire music catalog from their playlist following a disagreement over her absence at one of their events a year ago, despite her apology. The singer revealed her efforts to mend the relationship, including reaching out to Cool FM's management, which she said went unanswered.

"My God, BIG PASS YOUR WHOLE station @cloutafrica @CoolFMNigeria, keep on forming gatekeepers and taking my songs down. NA GOD BE MY LABEL AND MANAGEMENT, we go meet for front," she wrote passionately.

Yemi further elaborated, accusing the station of unprofessionalism: "Take down my whole catalog from your stations... God go still give me food. You're beefing an artist for 1 full year, over your event. I apologized and even called your oga; him dey form oga no even reply my text."

While Cool FM has yet to respond to these allegations, Yemi’s public outcry has reignited discussions about gatekeeping and favoritism within the Nigerian music scene. Fans and fellow artists have since weighed in on social media, with many applauding Yemi for her courage in speaking out.
