According to information provided by an ANC official, the arrest unfolded when the Bandra Unit team was conducting patrols in the Andheri area on Monday. The vigilant officers noticed a Nigerian man behaving suspiciously, prompting them to approach and conduct a search. The search revealed the presence of a white powder, later confirmed to be cocaine upon testing.

Identified as Onu Bathlomen Sunday, a 34-year-old individual, the arrested accused had reportedly intended to sell the seized drugs to the local youth, as stated by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prakash Jadhav.

The ANC swiftly took action, arresting Onu Bathlomen Sunday and filing charges against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 8(c) and Sections 14, 14-A(b) of the Foreign Nationals Act. The accused was remanded in police custody until January 12, and authorities have initiated a thorough interrogation to gather more insights into the drug trade network.

This arrest is part of the ongoing efforts by the Anti Narcotics Cell to curb drug-related activities in Mumbai. Over the past year, the ANC has successfully apprehended 233 drug smugglers, seizing narcotics valued at more than ₹56 crore. Notably, among the arrested individuals, sixteen are of Nigerian nationality, and two are citizens of Tanzania.
