Israel's war cabinet is convening for the third time in as many days to deliberate on how to respond to Iran's unprecedented direct attack.

This development comes amidst growing international pressure to prevent further escalation in the Middle East conflicts.

Israeli military chief of staff Herzi Halevi has pledged a response to Saturday night's barrage of 300 missiles, cruise missiles, and drones from Iran, which targeted Israeli territory. However, specific details of the response have not been disclosed.

Although the attack resulted in no fatalities and minimal damage, it has heightened concerns that violence originating from the Gaza conflict is spreading to other regions, raising the specter of a full-blown war between Iran and Israel.

Iran launched the attack in retaliation for an airstrike on its embassy in Damascus on April 1, attributed to Israel. Despite President Joe Biden's assurance to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the United States would not join in an Israeli counter-strike, Washington, along with its European allies, is actively pursuing tougher economic and political sanctions against Iran. This approach aims to dissuade Israel from resorting to further violence.
