Today Monday August 27th, 2018, the Ugandan High Court has this afternoon granted cash bail to pop star cum politician Bobi Wine and 11 co accused colleagues facing treason charges.

Justice Stephen Mubiru also granted bail to Arua Municipality MP elect Kassiano Wadri, Jinja East MP Paul Mwiru, Ntungamo Municipality MP Gerald Karuhanga and a host of other political activists. Outside the courtroom, there were two stand-by ambulances to transport the suspects who were tortured in detention to hospital.

Legislator Kassiano Wadri is however not allowed to set foot in his Arua Municipality for the next three months unless cleared by the court. Dozens of the MPs supporters were seen outside court celebrating as the suspects went through bail procedures before leaving the court.

It will be recalled that the Ugandan government has arrested Bobi Wine an independent member of Uganda Parliament for protesting and igniting youth against the Ugandan President who Bobi said he has been in power since the birth of many of the Ugandan youth. This action by Bobi was considered a treasonable offence by the Ugandan government but several appeals across the globe give way for granting Bobi Wine bail today.
