Dr.

Okezie Ikpeazu, the immediate past Governor of Abia State, has reaffirmed his commitment to the People's Democratic Party (PDP) during a caucus meeting held at the new party secretariat in Umuahia.

Addressing attendees at the well-attended gathering, Dr. Ikpeazu emphasized his dedication to remaining within the PDP fold, expressing his determination to contribute to the party's rebuilding efforts alongside fellow members. He highlighted the importance of unity among party members to facilitate a swift return to electoral success in the state.

Acknowledging the departure of some of his former aides to other political parties, Dr. Ikpeazu underscored the individual responsibility of party members for their performance in future elections. He emphasized his unwavering loyalty to the PDP and pledged to fulfill his obligations to the party's reconstruction process.

"Those who wish to leave will depart regardless of our efforts, but true loyalty entails recognizing the party's past contributions to our political journeys. Now is the time for sacrifice, particularly from those who have previously benefited from our party's support," remarked Dr. Ikpeazu.

Prior to Dr. Ikpeazu's remarks, Rt Hon Asiforo Okere, the state PDP Chairman, expressed gratitude to members who remained steadfast in their support for the party, particularly following the 2023 elections. Despite electoral setbacks, Okere highlighted the party's continued majority presence in the state House of Assembly.

Furthermore, Okere announced significant developments initiated by the National Working Committee, including the extension of elected ward executives' tenures by three months in an acting capacity. Additionally, three committees have been constituted to oversee Peace and Reconciliation, Way Forward, and Finance matters within the party.

The collective resolve demonstrated by Dr. Ikpeazu and party leaders underscores a renewed commitment to strengthening the PDP's position in Abia State, signaling a pivotal moment in the party's trajectory as it navigates through its rebuilding phase.
