Ifite area is known to be students village, mostly where majority of nnamdi azikiwe university students resides because of its closeness to the main campus. So majority of the building in the area are mainly student hostels comprising of upstairs and bungalows with flats and single rooms.

It happened that a building under construction, along the ifite-amansea road by next level junction suddenly collapsed without any prior notice. The students residing in the area stated that the said building was already nearing completion as it has already been roofed. Although no life was lost in the incident as the labourers working at the site has already left the premises before the ugly incident.

The owner of the building has already been contacted but the engineer in charge of the construction is still at large as at the time of this report.
