One cashier named Olasumbo Sammie, was on Monday arraigned for allegedly running away with proceeds of shaving sticks and blades worth N1.



8m belonging to her employer.

Sammie, 29, who was employed as a cashier in 2022, was alleged to have sold the shaving sticks and blades but failed to remit the proceeds to her employer.

The defendant was arraigned by the police before a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Yaba, Lagos State on two counts of stealing.

The prosecutor, Thomas Nurudeen, said the offences were contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Sections 411 and 287(7) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.Related News

The charge read, “That Olasumbo Sammie from February 1, 2022, till February 2023 at No 74 Docemo Street, Idumota Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District did commit felony to wit: stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.”

Magistrate P. E. Nwaka granted Sammie bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Nwaka adjourned the case till July 5, 2023 .
