According to the rule of the Roman Catholic church of bishops and prelates being relieved of thier posts at the age of 75, the Catholic archbishop of abuja Catholic archdiocese, John Cardinal Onaiyekan has retired as the leader of the archdiocese and will now be addressed as the emeritus archbishop.



It was reported that the Roman pontiff and the head of the Roman Catholic church, pope Francis the first yesterday accepted the retirement of cardinal John Onaiyekan as the archbishop of abuja Catholic archdiocese.

Onaiyekan was born in the year 1944 and became was elected the archbishop of abuja in the year 1994. He was later made the cardinal of the holy see in the year 2012 and has since served the Roman Catholic church diligently. The Catholic church faithfuls and friends and families and well wishers rejoices with the man of God as he steps into another phase of his vocational life.
