Senators voiced frustration on Tuesday over the state of the reconstructed Chamber, labeling it as nothing more than a 'mere conference room'.

Since the resumption of plenary last week, controversy has surrounded the refurbished Senate Chambers.

The session on Tuesday was marked by discontent over the Chamber's standard, leading to a heated debate lasting approximately 15 minutes and prompting the Senate to adjourn into executive session.

Ali Ndume, Chief Whip of the Senate and representative of Borno South, raised concerns about the Chamber's transformation into what he deemed a Conference Hall. He emphasized the need to address these shortcomings promptly to restore the hallowed Chamber to its intended state.

Echoing Ndume's sentiments, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, acknowledged the issues raised and assured that they were duly noted. He clarified that while concerns regarding seating arrangements had been resolved, the renovation contract was not under the jurisdiction of the 10th National Assembly but rather the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).
