Some passengers, including students from Abia State University, Uturu, were kidnapped by gunmen presumed to be Fulani herders (ABSU).
According to Punch, on Tuesday, gunmen opened fire on a shuttle bus carrying passengers along Okigwe-Uturu Road, killing the driver.
This comes just two days after seven Abia State University students were abducted along the same path.
The seven kids were abducted in a Siena car on their way back to school on Sunday, May 15, at 6 p.m. along Okigwe-Uturu.
Emmanuel Nzubechukwu Ubani, a 200-level Business Administration student from Umuakpor Ovungwo in Abia State's Isiala Ngwa South LGA, has been identified as one of the victims of the Sunday event.
Sharing a photo of some of the kidnapped students, one Daniel Obioma cried out to the Abia State government to come to their aid.
"We are calling on the government to speed intervention on Absu Okigwe road." It has turned to be a business and pure madness. Students are being kidnapped on a weekly basis. A ransom was paid. Another kidnapping case occurred two days ago when seven students were kidnapped at the same spot. Please save our lives. We went to study not to die. Abia government, we call on you for speedy action. #saveAbia students. #Bring back to our students, "he wrote.
